Already writing?

Bring your manuscript with you.

You don't have to start over to start here. Import the draft you already have, from Word, OpenDocument, Rich Text, plain text, Markdown, HTML, EPUB, or PDF, or a screenplay from Final Draft, Fountain, or Fade In. It lands in your project already split into chapters or acts, formatted, and ready for you to keep writing. Working in Google Docs, Pages, or Scrivener? Save a copy as Word (.docx) and import that.

On the Studio Assistant plan, the assistant can then read your chapters and propose the characters, locations, and organizations it finds there, each one yours to review, edit, and create in a click, so your universe catches up with your manuscript in minutes rather than an afternoon.

  • Eleven formats, with chapters and acts detected for you
  • Always additive: nothing you've already written is ever overwritten
  • Export your manuscript to Word, PDF, EPUB and more
One studio, end to end

Less searching. More time with your story.

Keep the details you need beside the work you’re doing. These writing and planning tools are included in Free, within its limits.

Find the detail you need

Keep character histories, place names, and world notes together. Link a passage to the person or place it mentions so you can consult the details while you write.

See where your plot goes

Arrange scene ideas on a plan board. Follow each subplot across your chapters in the plot builder, and spot the stretches where a story thread goes quiet.

Keep writing in your format

Draft a novel, screenplay, TV episode, or stage play with the appropriate formatting. Keep your notes nearby and track your progress with writing goals.

The manuscript

A writing surface that respects the craft.

Write on a continuous page that spans an entire chapter or act so you are not distracted by managing individual pages while writing, with custom margins, fonts, and paragraph styles for novels / stories and notes. Leave comments, link passages to the characters, places, organizations and devices they mention, check spelling and grammar, and place virtual sticky notes attached to a page or the screen for quick reminders.

  • A page-accurate manuscript editor
  • Comments & resource references in your text
  • Spelling, grammar & whole-manuscript find/replace
  • Plan Boards: storyboard before or while you write your story
  • Plot Builder: track every plot line and character arc across your chapters
  • Writing goals & stats: daily words, streaks, and targets with deadline pace
  • Import a draft in any of eleven formats; publish to Word, PDF, or EPUB when it's ready
Worldbuilding

Worlds as deep, or as simple, as you like.

Give every character, location, organization, and device its own entry, with images, aliases, notes, and the phases they move through across your story. Then map how it all connects on a visual relationship canvas.

Run an epic spanning a dozen distinct universes, or write a single short story in one tidy space. Verse Draft scales to your ambition and never gets in your way.

  • Characters, locations, organizations & devices
  • Visual relationship maps
  • A name generator for characters, places, factions & worlds
  • Invent constructed languages, with translation and a living dictionary
  • A universe-wide sourcebook for your lore and systems
  • Notes everywhere to keep track of your thoughts and ideas
  • As many varied universes as you want for your stories to live in, or just a single one
The assistant · Studio Assistant plan

Feedback grounded in the story you're actually writing.

Paste a chapter into a general-purpose chatbot and it knows nothing about the forty before it. The Verse Draft assistant works inside your project: it can look up your characters, locations, and organizations, consult a chapter-by-chapter overview of your manuscript, and search your own pages. Ask whether an opening drags, whether a motivation holds up, or whether something in chapter twelve squares with chapter three, and the answer is about your story, not a generic one.

It reacts, questions, and talks the problem through with you; it does not write the passage for you. It can also read a reply, or your own prose, aloud using the voices built into your browser, one of the fastest ways to catch a line that reads badly.

  • Ask for an honest read on any passage
  • Check continuity against your own chapters and characters
  • Ask how the application works, in plain language
  • Have replies, or your own prose, read aloud
  • Always optional: switch it off anytime, or choose Core Studio and leave AI out entirely
Every kind of story

From a short story to a whole season.

Verse Draft knows the difference between a manuscript and a script, and gives each its proper shape.

Novels & short stories

Chapters, scenes, and a clean manuscript page. Write a quick short or a sprawling multi-book saga.

Movies

Industry-standard screenplay formatting: scene headings, action, character, and dialogue, all handled as you write.

TV series

Build a show season by season and episode by episode, with the structure a writers' room expects.

Stage plays

Proper playscript layout for the page and the stage, ready for the table read and the spotlight.
